The Summer Is Ending

Here are the last 6 months of tree pictures - from barely any foliage in April up to this week when we got back from Manchester. My tree has stayed pretty much the same shape all year
The ground below is looking very parched, and I think the leaves are just on the edge of turning to their autumn colours.
We were very conscious as we drove up  and over the Pennines last Monday that there were clear signs of autumn the further north we went - and when we came back on Friday, this was even more apparent.
The fig tree crop is over, the children are back at school, and next Sunday will be Harvest Festival at chapel...
I am glad for our climate here in the UK, each season has its own special beauty. [but for me, Spring is my favourite, with  new birth, fresh starts, Easter...]

What is your favourite season? Why?

  1. I think I welcome the beginning of each season, as a change from the previous season. Winter has become dreary, hello crocuses! Spring can take forever to become truly delightful. Just as Summer is coming to a faded end, crisp Autumn sunshine, and as Autumn is threatening more dreariness, the sparkle of Christmas preparations arrives. We're very fortunate in this country.

  2. Autumn for new beginnings; school term programmed into my DNA! Spring for the hope of a fresh start. Jill x

  3. Spring is a joy because the Winter is always so long and gloomy that it's like a new miracle every time Spring returns to us, all is anew and there is still the hope of Summer to come. I do love Summer though also as I associate it with freedom!
    Your tree is looking bonny!

  4. I love Autumn for the sense of slowing down and cosyness it promises. We are further up North than Manchester and our trees are already jettisonning their leaves. Each twice weekly trip to Cheshire to visit Mum, all along the motorway is a wonderful indicator of the changing seasons. 🍂🍁

    1. I do like the word "jettisoning" their leaves. Maybe I should try jettisoning unnecessary possessions instead of decluttering them

  5. Spring for me too. I do love Autumn but it has a melancholy feeling lurking. I love seeing the Spring bulbs emerging, hearing birds start to sing, trees starting to leaf up and the thought of longer days, more light and warmer weather. Regards Sue H
