So the new bed arrived on the IKEA lorry [and yet again Bob's M&S card got temporarily blocked because it was a 'suspicious transaction'!] We have dismantled the single beds. The frames are out in the workshop, and we slid the mattresses under the new bed [this one is higher] I have washed and sorted bedding to go to Manchester. Each bed will have a mattress protector, duvet, and linens. To reduce space in the car when we transport them, I've put them in vacpac bags.
I use these vacpac bags for all my spare linens, and for my stored summer clothes.
You can't see it in the photo, but there's a sheet of paper in there, listing what is inside.
I've reduced my own bedlinen collection, and have 2 sets of linens for each of the double beds here. One is UK kingsize [150cm] , the other is Euro king [160cm] I have embroidered K and K+ on the fitted sheets, because i do not want to get them muddled.
Why do so many manufacturers fail to put sizes on the labels?
Do you use vacpac bags for storage? What is in yours?

Those bags sound brilliant!!! I've never used them but probably should! My Summer clothes (&then conversely, my Winter clothes) live in 2 big suitcases in the spare room cupboard when not in use. They take ups lot of space!

The covers are going to Steph with the beds. You could shrink all your cosplay outfits into much smaller spaces if you used these
DeleteMy new Ikea mattress arrived via white van man x 2, one of whom asked to use my loo which I politely refused, considering they had stopped at 5 other places and must have passed a few public toilets an route before they got to me that morning. I also found it interesting that it cost me £40 for delivery but only £25 to return it? I've tried those vac bags but the valves always seem to come loose. I think John Lewis and The White Company do sizes on their labels.

ReplyDeleteI don't use vacpac bags, but I have used them in the past. Mine didn't last very long, but they were cheap ones, so perhaps that was why.
My original £shop ones split. These cost a bit more, but are lasting well
DeleteOur spare bed is an IKEA double and was comfortable to sleep in during our bedroom decorating. We use the vacuum bags for storing bedding too and have had a few incidents of the bag inflating and jamming the shelf where we store the duvets and linens. I’m not pleased with IKEA this week as you can see on my blog. Catriona

ReplyDeleteYes, I have out of season things in vac packs under my lift up bed. There are the not in use summer weight duvets and lighter duvet covers currently there, and my lighter weight and paler coloured Summer tops. All with reversible paper notes stating what's in there. Things rotate year after year, so I thought the signs should be able to as well. :-)
