Sue in Suffolk is right, the new Blogger is proving difficult to manage. I cannot get it to reliably use Trebuchet, the font I have used for years. And also the colour of the text seems to change randomly halfway through. We will get there in the end, I am sure. Meanwhile my bread making moves on - this week I made a loaf using my small loose bottomed cake tin.
The texture and taste were good, but it was not quite the right shape for ham sandwiches. But a single slice is fine toasted, with butter and marmalade. I love these warm mornings, when I can leave the bowl of dough proving on the kitchen windowsill in the sunshine.
Where do you prove your bread? I knew a woman who always took hers upstairs and tucked it under the duvet just after her husband had got up in the morning! In wintry weather I use the airing cupboard.
I prove my dough on the cupboard top (or sometimes overnight in the fridge). Many years ago I thought that the kitchen had to be hot to prove bread so I used to put the oven on (and maybe a gas burner too). It was stifling! Sajidah.
ReplyDeleteOvernight in the fridge seems popular at the moment. I don't often have that much space in mine!
DeleteI always just leave mine sitting on top of the hob:) Our kitchen is North facing with 3 windows so is cold in the Winter, so I then sometimes move it to a front (South) window above a cooling radiator
ReplyDeleteIt does vary, summer and winter. In the kitchen does mean it's close by and you can keep an eye on it
DeleteI'm impressed by all your bread baking! I still haven't been able to get any yeast, so no bread baking for me! When I do make bread, I just leave the bowl of dough on the dining table to rise.
ReplyDeleteI hope yeast is back in your shops soon, Bless
ReplyDeleteWhy blogger can't stick to 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' I'll never know. Change for the sake of change. It really annoys me. I am not looking forward to the new format at all.
ReplyDeleteMy kitchen window faces west and has a deep ledge so it's a perfect spot.
ReplyDeleteAlways love the "intriguing" titles that you come up with for your posts! :-)
