Because I remade everything from scratch, I was able to lengthen the ones at the side window. That means that when the radiator is on, I can tuck them behind, so the heat is deflected into the room. The curtains look much brighter and fresher for their wash. Sorted!
Ryan arrived at 1:30 as planned and cleaned the cooker beautifully, including the horrid burned on patch I've been struggling to remove for months. It's a small family company, using environmentally friendly products and elbow grease! No nasty smells, just a pleasant citrus perfume. He was here almost two hours, and charged £80. This seems to be the going rate round here for a double oven range type cooker. [I know some of you were wondering!] Unless you live in North Norfolk [aka Chelsea on Sea] where they charge twice as much.
Both look brilliant!

DeleteThe thing about oven spills is the longer you leave them, the more burned on they get. Just cover them in bicarb and a little water or vinegar, leave for 24 hours and it should be a lot more amenable to removal altho' you may have to repeat the process. That'll be eighty quid, thanks.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the tip. The cheque's in the post.
DeleteThose curtains look amazing! You did an awesome job. The cooker also looks good - sometimes it's worth getting someone who really knows their stuff involved.
ReplyDeleteI need to check out the products he used
DeleteThe curtains look brilliant, a pat on the back, I bet you feel pleased at a job well done. The cooker looks sparkling, another job well done. I am embarking on darning a large hole in the left hand sleeve of my Norwegian cardigan bought 40 years ago in Bergen. It is so warm and still looks great apart from the hole. I think I will be able to darn it if not I will sew a patch over it so that I can still wear it. It has lovely pewter fob fasteners and cost a bomb back in the day but has paid for itself over and over. Regards Sue H
ReplyDeleteOh those Norwegian cardis are so beautiful. I think I would put a patch under the hole to stabilise the fabric then darn it beautifully over the top. Have you got a little Speed-weve gadget? If not, I can lend you mine (check out my post from 23.3.24) email me
DeleteThat is very kind of you but I have finished the repair. I did a patch under the hole and then darned (not beautifully but adequately) on top. It looks ok and fine to now wear again. My Gran taught my sister and I to darn and if she didn't think what we had done was neat enough she would cut it out and make us darn the even bigger hold again! A couple of times doing this and we soon learnt to be reasonable darners. Thank you once again for your kind offer. Regards Sue H

DeleteLovely range! I use a sheet from Lakeland to put on the oven base. I just pull it out to wash off spills.
ReplyDeleteI had one of those once, unfortunately I didn't realise you cannot use them if your oven has an element in the base. it melted and stuck!
DeleteThat's some cooker! Looks wonderful. My mother had a New World gas range for a longtime. Sadly it was never quite the same after being converted to Natural Gas. That dates it!
ReplyDeleteThe curtains look to be a 'proper job' as they say in the West Country.
No gas in the village, so when we got Cornerstones we had to find an all electric cooker big enough to fill the existing gap..I'm very pleased with this one, now coming up 16 years old
DeleteThe curtains look amazing and much fuller with the interlining in now. That was a good idea to lengthen them too. Oh my word-your cooker looks like new! Definitely worth the money spent cleaning it. We’re just staying in today as the storm has now been replaced by torrential rain and some snow forecast. Catriona
ReplyDeleteYes they look much better. It was definitely worth doing. I hope your weather eases up soon. Yesterday was windy here, today bright sunshine. The batteries on our solar panels are 100% charged.
DeleteThey look super!! Well done you!!! The oven looks superb too! I'dlike to find a company that uses eco products. How did you find them? X
ReplyDeleteMy niece recommended them, they did her oven when she moved out of a rental property last year.

DeleteWhat a fabulous job you have made of those curtains. Not always easy when adjusting is required. Curtain making is not one of my favourite things to do. Your cooker looks amazing too.
ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteBeautiful job, Angela!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Terri. Happy birthday
DeleteYour curtains look lovely. I wish I could find someone to clean my oven. I know they are available in larger cities, but not here. I'll do it eventually!
ReplyDeleteThe chap seemed quite happy to drive out from Norwich to our village. I hope you can find someone
DeleteYour curtains look amazing. Grand job. I have to admit when I first saw the post title, I read it as "Hung, drawn and quartered." Whoops. Obviously, I read too many historical novels. :)
ReplyDeleteThat oven cleaning was £80 well spent when you think of how much pain you saved your back and your hands.
I read too many Tudor novels too!
DeleteCurtains and oven all look fantastic. Our oven was spotless when we moved in, so I try to wipe it out after every use, not always done, but it seems to work. Beautiful sunny but cold here today, rain forecast for tomorrow. Xx
ReplyDeleteThe light failed in my oven and so a couple of spills went unnoticed for a while and and burned on
DeleteThe curtains look amazing, well done on a good job. Such a lovely pattern.
ReplyDeleteI love William morris
DeleteCurtains look great. Love the range.
ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteThe curtains look great. I think a range that size justifies paying someone to clean the oven!

DeleteFantastic job on curtains. They look wonderful.x
ReplyDeleteThank you, your advice was very wise - without it I may have cut corners and not achieved such a pleasing result. This is why I love my blogfriends - they help me to get things right
DeleteSuch beautiful fabric deserves 5 star treatment! I love my blogfriends who encourage decluttering which you do in spades, Ang! Any further tips gratefully received!I'm on a mission!
ReplyDeleteThanks A,. You encourage my stitching and I'll encourage your decluttering. Win-win! 🙂
