Me And My Bat'leth

Here's Worf the Klingon, from "Star Trek Next Generation" wielding his bat'leth. It is, Bob tells me, 'a curved blade, with two spiked protusions at each end and three handholds along the back which can be used to twist and turn the blade rapidly'

And here's me and my bat'leth on Monday. But mine is not a weapon of attack, but rather of defence.
To be more accurate, it is a Wilko paint shield. You use it when painting round skirting boards, doors etc, instead of sticking metres of masking tape everywhere.
Yes, I know I look like Mrs Overall from Acorn Antiques, with my hair tied up in a scarf, but I have grey in my hair already, I don't need green paint streaks too.
We bought our paint for the lounge back in 2019 [I think] and at last we have got round to redecorating this week.
We began early yesterday by moving furniture and taking down curtains, then got on with the painting.
Hoping the room will be spick and span by the weekend.
The walls are in Wilko "English Sage"- very similar to Farrow and Ball's "Teresa's Green" - but more within my budget. The bat'leth cost £2

  1. The Bat'leth sounds like a nifty tool! How does it work?
You know you could have dressed up as Jodie Whittaker from last year's New Year Special in that boiler suit for my 40th celebration! Back to school today and trains are already misbehaving!

    1. You hold the edge against the thjng you want to avoid painting(skirting board, edge of door, radiator pipe) and you use whichever part of the shape's edge (straight, curved, corner) fits best to mask the surface.

  2. Rather you than me. I hate decorating and it's one of the things I don't attempt myself, preferring to leave it to the experts.

I do like your choice of colour. Will we be treated to a photo of the end result please?

  4. What a great idea! I don't paint but friends who do always say that taping off the room is really the hardest part of the whole process! Don't work too hard!

  5. What a great tool, I hate the whole process of putting masking tape everywhere ... although I do love peeling it off.

  6. Yesterday we picked the colour card we wanted from F&B and then crossed the aisle to the affordable stuff to find a match! You look lovely x Someone told me once that green was the most restful colour and thus ideal for a living room. Clearly you knew this already!

    1. The room was magnolia when we got Cornerstones in 2009,but now I finally have my beautiful William Morris Strawberry Thief curtains, the restful green is a lovely complementary shade.
