A huge thank you to my dear friend Jan in Washington State for sending me a link to this beautiful video. It is 16 minutes long, but you can watch it happily on double speed [and then go back and pick up on the finer details] Marion is a stitcher, up in the north East of England, and does all sorts of crafts, you can follow her on Instagram at Marion's World
We cannot all be Mia Hannson or Marion but we can do small things, and appreciate the skills of others. Make a cuppa, and settle down to enjoy this one...
Thank you again to Jan - and to Marion too...
Are there any stitches who inspire you?

What beautiful workmanship and hard-but enjoyable effort has gone into her coat. I hope she gets a lot of pleasure from wearing it. Lesley
ReplyDeleteI do too, it is remarkable
DeleteThank you so much for sharing Marion's you tube about her beautiful coat, she is right you just have to start it and hope for the best.
ReplyDeleteI've just finished an english paper pieced quilt which I started approx five years ago as a way to use up all my scraps and I am so happy with the result the only problem is my tubs of scraps must have grown in the dark as I have way more than when I started probably due to the machine quilts I made along the way.
I'm going to check out her other video's. Thanks again. From Shirley in Australia.
Oh well done with your EPPQ, they grow SO slowly, to finish one is a real achievement. Jan has shared a real treasure trove here, many of uswilbe visiting Marion's world now I think ❤️
DeleteThat's a lovely coat! A true labor of love. Thank you for sharing the video. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely isn't it
DeleteBeautiful work and it was so lovely to see her swirling the coat in such lovely surroundings. Thanks to your friend for sharing. Catriona

DeleteWow, WOW, and WOW!!! So much work, the coat is beyond gorgeous. I think I would be afraid to wear it and sit on something, or catch a thread on something. I can't imagine working on something for that period of time. She is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI would end up doing a careful flower embroidery over the inevitable stain! And I would be afraid of gaining weight and not being able to wear it. I guess it is a fairly unstructured fit...
DeleteThat is just stunning. I can't imagine how much work has gone into designing and stitching the coat. Marion is so talented.
ReplyDeleteIt was also lovely to see Kiplin Hall which I shall now add to my places to visit list.
It looks interesting, doesn't it?
DeleteOh my, that coat is gorgeous! Such talent and dedication!
ReplyDeleteReal commitment to her project with lovely results
DeleteI so enjoyed seeing Marion swirling around in that gorgeous coat in such beautiful surroundings, and then to see the close ups of the stunning embroidery. It really ought to be on display, but sometimes we need to use our best things!
ReplyDeleteI hope she wears it frequently so others can see it too
DeleteI have watched Marion on YouTube a number of times. A very talented lady. The coat is very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou are extremely talented too Ange. I marvel at the projects you do, whether mice, redesigning clothes or making things ready for church events. Of course, we must not forget Bob and his talents, cooking beautiful breakfasts for the grandchildren and DIY based projects. You are a formidable pair.
She is talented. Thank you for your kind words, Susan [PS did you ever live in Chigwell?]
DeleteTo answer your question. No. However I did live in Colchester for a long time.
DeleteNot the Susan Taylor I knew in my teens then...
DeleteSorry no. Taylor is my married name. X
