A fascinating piece on the BBC news website this week from Ben Ando, their crime correspondent, all about the number of fake pound coins in circulation. In the clip, he explains how experts detect the counterfeit coinage.
"The first thing the experts look at is the edge of the coin, and the cross, because that is very hard to fake"
So for once, even the BBC agrees - the first place to look for authenticity is The Cross!
How appropriate for Holy Week.
I hate to say it.....but I didnt realise there was a cross on the coin!
