Not so much under my skin, as on top of it. I had a minor skin complaint, and the GP prescribed some special emollient washing solution
It's fine, and doing the job it is intended for. But it comes with an alarming set of instructions, viz "after use, keep the body away from naked flames". For the next few weeks, I shall keep my naked body away from all naked flames - so no fireworks displays, barbecues, or candlelit suppers.
Meanwhile Liz kindly sent me some sample tubes of Origins Skin Products, as I'd said my face had been quite dry.[Thanks Liz]
The Night-A-Mins tube made me chuckle. The label on this product tells me it contains "fruit-derived AHAs". Now I know that means Alpha Hydroxy Acids, which are supposed to exfoliate the skin. But I cannot help thinking of the Abba Song [Knowing Me, Knowing You] which provided Alan Partridge with his catchphrase
At my age I don't expect to have the unlined skin and fresh-faced dewy complexion of a young girl. I have lines and wrinkles - but they are mostly laughter lines. Coco Chanel said "life shapes the face you have at 30, but at 50 you have the face you deserve". The Bible says "true beauty comes from the heart. The unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit" Aha! That's the secret!
I think that is very true about the true beauty coming from the heart. You really do see it in lovely people!
ReplyDeleteI like the Martin Luther King quote 'judge not by the colour of their skin, but by the content of their character'
DeleteWhen I first had eczema (in my forties, dressings changed a couple of times a week) I was prescribed something similar in the cream for my arms and legs. I made the mistake of discussing the need to stay away from naked flames in front of bear - he was terrified that I was going to burst into flames and wouldn't let me near a candle (he was only little, I should have known better).
ReplyDeleteAlso, apparently the creams/washes can contain a lot of stuff like paraffin that can get into your bedlinen and make it more flammable.
I hope that everything is sorted out soon.
Children can easily misunderstand things we take for granted. Thank you, everything is much better now!
DeleteOur Grandson has Dermol 500 which he needs occasionally as he has very sensitive skin.
ReplyDeleteMy Grandmother used to use Aqueous Cream to wash and shower with and had Dermol 500 to use as a body lotion. She'd given up smoking a few years previously, and her flat was all electric, so I don't think she worried about naked flames!
She was 95 when she died and still had a beautiful face with amazingly good, smooth skin. It must have been genetics, as she most definitely did not have a 'gentle and quiet spirit'!
She did however, smoke and drink to excess until she was in her mid eighties, so perhaps all the smoke and alcohol had worked to preserve her!
We have a bathroom cabinet with an illuminated mirror door, it shows every line and wrinkle, so I don't look in it too often!
I remember someone on TV once saying "If you want good skin, make sure you choose parents who both have good skin" - which must be one of the most stupid beauty tips ever!!
DeleteI've always made it a policy to keep myself away from open flames!!
ReplyDeleteAs my Grandma Hall used to say, "my wrinkles show where smiles have been!"
Decades ago there was a children's book titled "The King Rained" (I thiink that was it) and you should look for it in the library as it illustrates what words can puzzle small children and is too funny.
Hugs!
I found the link for the story on YouTube https://youtu.be/P07mnoW22hg
DeleteI am so glad you are going to be careful with the naked flames! That just sounds painful! And the face cream looks interesting. I am always looking for new things to try. However, I have one area on my face that is aging faster than everywhere else and I am trying to figure out why and I have come to the conclusion that I might be using TOO much skincare. Or maybe not the correct skincare. Or I could just be getting — ahem — old.
