Tom had to abandon work early due to the weather [you can't fit large fence panels in high winds] but he came back on Saturday morning to finish the work. Tom & team have also relaid the wonky paths round the property, and there has been much mud trodden inside. My friend lent me a Vax. So I spent a lot of Saturday dealing with floor cleaning. Then I got some fabric from the loft to iron in readiness for a sewing project
But life is never straightforward...
But the rest of the weekend chores went OK, and Sunday morning at church was brilliant.
Over the weekend we relaxed by watching "All the light we cannot see" on Netflix. We really enjoyed it - good story, great acting, and beautifully made. Hugh Laurie was superb [forget him as comedic Wooster, and supercilious House - this time he got to play a man of integrity] as was Mark Ruffalo. And the two younger leads were charming. No spoilers - but I give it *****. Watch it if you can

I've seen neither the Crown not the aforementioned film/series.
ReplyDeleteThe person donated it to the chariry shop as they felt guilty about chucking it out when it stopped working but lacked knowledge/willingness/funds to repair it. It's like Wishcycling.
Well done for reconditioning it! I'd like to borrow a Vax for our bedroom carpet! Kxx

It's a lovely film. And yes I agree - the Crown is a Drama, NOT a historically accurate documentary. I understand that the new series actually includes the ghost of Diana sitting on a sofa at Balmoral, advising the Queen. That says it all, really!!
DeleteThe book of 'All the Light' was brilliant. Not sure if I could watch the film, as much as I love Hugh Laurie. Your pic of the Vax reminded me of the one I used to use at work! Blimey, I did slog it out there! Not watching The Crown.When I worked, I used to do one day a week for the matriarch of the family in her 'granny cottage ' and she once told me that it was dreadful the way 'they' treated Diana and I firmly believe that.

DeleteI wish people would consider what they give to CS. I bought a CD boxed set, one disc was missing. The manager at our local CS told me they often have to rent a skip to put all of the broken items, torn, spoiled clothes etc etc in and pay to have it taken away.

DeleteI love my Vax. Angela if you heat the iron and rub the base with a paracetamol it will bring the burnt parts off, wipe with a damp cloth as you do it. t took 3 to clean the materiel off mine.

DeleteSteam cleaners are wonderful when working. Ours leaked and still needs fixing. No to the Crown, we watched some on Netflix a while back and were not impressed, prefer real documentaries. Trying to get back into form, after a trip with some health issues, we got back on Tuesday and DH flew off again on Sunday, so much laundry and prep. for that trip! Resting now.

ReplyDeleteThe iron is all clean now. Maybe I should now tackle the huge pile of clothes that need ironing [whilst watching TV] We pay to 'piggy-back' on our daughter's family Netflix account.
