Footnotes

There are loads of ideas out there for decorating support boots.
But I shan't get the chance to use them.
The Dr at this morning's Fracture clinic decided there are no bone breakages in either foot, just damaged tendons and ligaments. He reckoned that if Bob's sensible, all should be healed in a month or so. So he doesn't have to wear the boot all day, and can use walking sticks rather than crutches if that's more comfortable.
All of which is really good news. I'll still be designated driver for a while.
We continue to take things easy. Thank you all for your kind words, prayers and encouragements

  1. I'm so glad to hear that there are no broken bones. Damaged tendons and ligaments are painful and do take a while to heal completely but at least that "boot" has been booted out of the picture!

  3. That is excellent news. My son suffered a really acute break (several cm of exposed bone to knit together) to his foot last year while skiiing. Chichester Orthopaedic dept were brilliant though and x-rayed his foot while he did various weight-bearing exercises which showed that the broken bones were aligning perfectly so he needed no treatment, least of all a boot, as the more normally he used his foot the better the outcome they said and six months later he was back to normal. He’s a keen triathlete plays tennis and six a side football and in October is off climbing in Nepal (not Everest but still up to 5000m) so just as well. I think our body’s ability to mend is nothing short of miraculous! Sarah in Sussex

  7. I'm so glad to hear that there are no broken bones. I'm sure damaged tendons and ligaments are painful enough! Hope Bob continues to recover well and hope you both take things easy for the next few weeks.

  8. Great news, make sure Bob takes it steady as it is easy to do too much and it takes longer to heal.
