I'm Knot Convinced!

We had a brilliant time at our Craft Group Christmas Get Together. We chatted*, and ate festive food and played games - and Janet taught us to make Macrame trees.
Our results were very diverse because we had different thicknesses of string. I was fairly happy with my little green tree, but I'm not planning to make any more!
After lunch I sorted out the freezer food, and made a sensible shopping list.
We watched the final episode of Wolf Hall on Sunday night. I wasn't quite sure about the end... I must check the book again.
George was a sheep in his school nativity play yesterday, and remembered his line. I'm very proud of him for overcoming his shyness, I'm so pleased his Mum and Dad were able to go and watch the production. I sometimes feel there's a lot of pressure put on the youngest children in school.
It's only "eight more sleeps"and I'm not convinced I'll be fully organised for the 25th, but if things don't get done, that doesn't matter.
*one person asked us not to say who had won Strictly as they had yet to watch the final on iPlayer. How had they managed to avoid finding out for 36 hours? I don't usually watch the show, but I saw the last 10 minutes on Saturday night, and was very happy about the result.

  1. Oh me oh my only eight more sleeps! (I'd never heard that expression until I started teaching in infant schools.) Well done George. My favourite Christmas video every year is the Flint street nativity. Gets me every time.

    1. I had thought I'd wrap whilst watching "Strike" last night. But I made a cup of tea just as it started, sat down to drink the tea first... then woke up as the programme was finishing!

    2. I wonder what proportion of viewers nodded off- and what does that say about the plot??

  4. Ps watched Strictly and loved the result. Also Wolf Hall which end result wasn't so joyful! Hard to relate Mark Rylance's wonderful portrayal as Cromwell to his voice as Bing!

    1. Can recommend MR in "Outfit" and "Phantom of the open" - such diverse roles, evidence of his amazing acting skill. There are too many people on screen who can only play one character - his range is so wide.

  5. Mark Rylance is stupendous. My husband fell asleep watching the new "Strike" and woke up just as it finished. In his defence he had been to the dentist and had to have an emergency extraction so rather weary. I found it hard to follow the plot but did manage to stay awake! That's great about George sometimes a lot is asked of the youngest children and they are not much older than babies, bless them. Regards Sue H

  6. I like the macrame Christmas trees.
Well done, George! I'm glad his parents were able to be there to watch the performance.

  7. Well done George and well done you-the little trees are lovely. I used to be as nervous as the children when they were doing something for an audience-no wonder my knees are dodgy when I would crawl around on the floor trying to be an encouraging teacher to small people who were struck by stage fright or worse still those who found their foghorn voice and drowned out everyone else. Happy memories but glad to be done with it. Catriona

    1. End of Xmas term is always so stressful for teachers. As a supply teacher, I used to get most work in Jan/Feb because they were all so run down they would catch every bug going, and I would be called in to cover their classes!

  10. Tags were found so the present wrapping has been done, only a couple more bits to get. Food lists have been made but as I only have to supply a pudding and cheese and biscuits, my bit is easy. Well done George for your success in your play, it will be easier next time. Xx

  11. I bet you wished you could have seen and heard George in the Nativity play! He did well to overcome his shyness. Who knows, he may be quite a performer one day!
