Norfolk Beauties

We had cake at Craft group last week - and Sue kindly gave us her recipe. On Sunday afternoon I used it to make this. It was very pleasant. I used some of the Norfolk Beauties from the Station Orchard, and a few of our pears which had blown down on Saturday night. I did forget the icing sugar on top, but it was still fine. I had no cream, so served it warm with custard.

Speaking of Norfolk Beauties, my hair has got really long. I popped into Supercuts on Monday. It feels much tidier now! Thanks to stylist Brandon

  1. That cake looks good, I'd leave out the Almond essence because it's a flavour I don't care for, but one could add cinnamon or mixed spice or lemon... mmmm. Ginger, perhaps?

  6. 'Serves 12 large pieces' ? It all depends on your definition of large. I feel hard done by when I receive a sliver of cake so fragile it flops over onto its side, unable to stand up. Love the idea of having this with custard.

    1. More like 8 or 9 to get a proper pudding portion

The cake looks delightful. I'm grateful for the recipe. Your hair looks very smart although I liked the longer length too. With a warm smile like yours, you could wear your hair most any way.

    1. He cuts it so well that it still keeps it's shape as it gets longer, so I can delay having it cut for months !
