On Sundays at church, we are studying the Gospel of Mark. This week, Mark chapter 4, when Jesus calms the storm.
Here is a favourite song from Rend Collective
In my wrestling and in my doubts
In my failures You won't walk out
Your great love will lead me through
You are the peace in my troubled sea,
In the silence, You won't let go
In the questions, Your truth will hold
Your great love will lead me through
You are the peace in my troubled sea,
My Lighthouse, my lighthouse
Shining in the darkness, I will follow You
My Lighthouse, my lighthouse
I will trust the promise,
You will carry me safe to shore
I won't fear what tomorrow brings
With each morning I'll rise and sing
My God's love will lead me through
You are the peace in my troubled sea,
Fire before us, You're the brightest
You will lead us through the storms
My Lighthouse, my lighthouse
Shining in the darkness, I will follow You
I will trust the promise,
You will carry me safe to shore
You are the Peace in my troubled Sea

The last three lines are ones to hold on to.

DeleteI have trouble with this song. A lighthouse is a warning to seafarers to keep away, not a symbol to follow. I would much rather God is described as a Pilot as they guide ships through difficult or unknown seas and to a safe harbour.
ReplyDeleteCan't you tell I grew up near the sea! ๐
Perhaps the writer meant that the beams of light both indicate danger and show the safe way to take. There's a very old hymn "Let the lower lights be burning" which has a similar theme.
DeleteI didn’t know this song before now. It has wonderful words. Thank you for the uplifting thoughts. Nicky K

DeleteI never heard this song before. The words,
ReplyDelete"I won't fear what tomorrow brings
With each morning I'll rise and sing
My God's love will lead me through", are particularly lovely.
Rend Collective are a Irish Band, they have produced some great worship songs. This one is very popular for use in school assemblies
DeleteI really enjoy singing this song at church. It is a real encouragement. Thank you for sharing and reminding me of its message.
