…there’s no such thing as a Gruffalo. Julia Donaldson’s delightful story has been our theme at school for a few days – and on Friday we are Going On A Trip to find the beast.
The children love this tale of a strange creature …
He has knobbly knees and turned out toes
And a poisonous wart at the end of his nose,
His eyes are orange, his tongue is black;
He has purple prickles all over his back
We even have a Gruffalo Dressing Up costume. Unfortunately due to enthusiastic play, coupled with poor stitching, we had some side splitting issues – and the head started to come off!
So the Gruffalo came home to my house for a brief encounter with the sewing machine.
And now he is fine and dandy and ready to stalk the wood again
This is a costume for a small child – I don’t think they make them for women my size.
This is one of our favorites too, and the children love going gruffalo hunting, they really let their imaginations run wild, also if you go puffin live, Julia Donaldson is reading from her new story the owl and the pussycat http://www.puffinvirtuallylive.co.uk/author/juliadonaldson
ReplyDeleteSounds like lots of fun! It's a good thing that you can help the gruffalo keep his shape!!! Jx
ReplyDeleteYou could make one for a woman your size, and while you're at it you could get yourself over here to help with a minion costume for next week...
ReplyDeleteAlways loved the gruffalo.
