Sew Mysterious!
I'm working very slowly on a new sewing project. I'm amused to realise that "running stitch" is not necessarily done at speed. I cannot give you any information about why or what for...but it does involve some smaller sections of embroidery which will become part of the larger finished piece.
With each one I've had to create my own stitching chart first, before even picking up a needle. I've just completed the first four of these. Here they are
My challenge to you is this - can you identify any of these?
And can you find any sort of connection between them?

Well I see the start of The Hallelujah chorus and the Tube Map. There is some sort of Genetic structure there too but I'm not sure about the Lighthouse-esque structure.

I'm doing a similar embroidery project for an artist friend who has recovered from cancer and who is compiling a hugh tapestry to be hung in the hospital he was being treated in. He also devised The Great Tapestry of Scotland and a couple of other large projects so I'm glad my little square will get lost amongst all the other fabulous stitchers' work, since my embroidery skills are sadly lacking. I shall watch with interest for your completed project.
ReplyDeleteI should LOVE to see the Great Tapestry of Scotland. Do not do yourself down - every contribution to these wonderful 'community creations' has a part to play. It is about love and commitment, not technical expertise. And what a great idea on the part of the artist devising it, as a thankyou for his hospital.

DeleteI like the underground one the best, I think that one is so neat.

the London Underground, a lighthouse, a molecular chain and as Kezzie said the Hallelujah Chorus ( For the Lord God Omnipotent....) All different types of connections.
I love the thought of running stitches being slow!

Thanks everyone - the molecular chain is INSULIN as discovered by Dorothy Hodgkin. The connection is that they are all plans/designs by British people [yes Handel did take citizenship when he came to live here] I'm working on a bigger piece, which needs to refer both to Jeremiah 29;11 "I know the plans", and represent our nation. I cannot reveal more at this point...
