That's Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome. Except of course, we do have a house guest fir a few days. Cousin Julian is here with us till Friday. And he is brilliant - on Monday whilst I was at my Craft Group, he went with Bob to collect the new bedroom furniture. The old stuff is going up into the loft to provide slightly more organised storage of craft materials. But as is the way of these things, that stuff will not fit through the loft hatch.
But there is still the matter of sorting the drawers and deciding what goes where.
I suspect odd socks and tatty pants will at last be binned. I have a bad habit of keeping them 'in case of emergency'. What sort of crisis would that be, do you think?
It was Quizzy Monday again - so we downed tools to watch Only Connect together. Such a relief to see V C-M after the trials of Puzzling, with Lucy W! And I really enjoyed Amol Rajan"s appearance asking the questions on University Challenge. He had a light touch, and relaxed manner. This match was was a nail-biting start to the new series too.
Now all the new furniture is built, awaiting contents. The recycling collection is today - there will be lots of large cardboard boxes outside Cornerstones. I hope there isn't another storm in the morning.
Thank you Julian and Bob for doing the bulk of the work whilst I was out at my craft group.

DeleteWe did our bedroom earlier in the year and I hope that’s going to do us for a very long time. IKEA was our choice for furniture too and the old stuff nor provides essential tool storage in the garage. Catriona

DeleteWhat a shame that things wouldn't fit through the attic space. I'm sure it took a long time to do, undo, redo etc etc. But it will all be worth it when you have your lovely room sorted out.
ReplyDeleteThe old stuff is dismantled and whilst Bob was out this morning, J & I managed to get the bits thru the hatch, and stack them.neatly in the loft. They will eventually be put together again!! Next step is sorting towels and sheets
DeleteI try to avoid putting too much up in the loft. Only raises the question how will they dispose of it after I'm gone!!I also have to disagree about UC. For a start the bling AR was wearing would have been more at home at a pub quiz!I would have loved to see Clive Myrie as Quizmaster!Lots more class and he's brilliant doing Mastermind.Great job on the furniture.
ReplyDeleteOk I agree about the Bling - but I liked his style of questioning. CM is brilliant on Mastermind - but I wouldn't want him on MM and then UC all on the same evening!

DeleteHow nice of your cousin to help! I reuse old socks as garden ties for tall plants (eg, sunflowers to stakes). Cut off the toe, cut length wise to open up and then into strips. They're soft and don't damage delicate stems.
