The little suitcase split last week, when I went up to London on the train. It was very cheap, one of a pair we bought for our trip to Sicily 3 years ago. It was a fairly small tear, along the top.
I decided it shouldn't prove too difficult to stitch it up. It doesn't get used that often, but it is useful to have a little case on wheels sometimes. I got out my trusty awl This comes with a reel of waxed thread, which is very strong. OK, my stitching isn't 100% perfect, but it has created a new 'shoulder seam' round the top of the case. At Bob's suggestion, I spent two minutes with a black Sharpie, going over the stitching. That will do a few more journeys, I am sure. I should probably neaten the edge, which is a little frayed, with some black gaffer tape. That idea has only just occurred to me, looking at the photo. Use it up Wear it out Make it do Or do without!

You did a good job sewing up the rip! Covering up the thread with a black marker was a clever idea!
