Here We Go Again!

I've not been involved in a Children's Club since the summer of 2019 [The Great Escape] At our little chapel, someone suggested running a 3-day club in the Easter holidays. Bob and I have volunteered to be on the team.

We're using a programme called Xpedition Force. It's pretty old - we did it at Kirby Muxloe back in 2004. It is so wonderful to just be 'helpers' - although I have been sorting out all the crafts [because I had all the notes and templates already] The sessions cover the Easter story. Jane, the leader has contracted the plan into 3 days instead of five.

The crafts cover the five senses as well as the story
sound - Palm Sunday trumpets
taste - Easter biscuits and food themed place mats
smell- lavender bags
sight - stained glass windows
touch - scratch art crosses and Easter Gardens

I made sure everything was sorted and ready before I went down to London. Which proved to be a good thing, as last week things were quite chaotic in the Close, neighbours needing help to get places, medical emergencies and more. One person had a car with a flat battery, another had a car alarm which would not stop going off. Bob and I were very busy. And of course we had snow to contend with too.
Like many other bloggers I have been watching the Amish Experiment - but will not review it until I have seen all 6 programmes. I note that it is sponsored by P&O - who have recently forced 850 of their [ex] employees to love 'a Simpler Life' whether they like it or not.

This week I shall be out at chapel every morning from Monday to Wednesday. Hoping to see plenty of Rosie and family as they are up in Norfolk for the Easter Holidays. I'm so grateful for family and friends, and for an opportunity to work with the children again...

    1. It must be difficult for some families when holidays are at different times

  3. I have been watching the Simpler Life too. Without saying much, I just feel that not enough research or thought has gone into the making. I'll wait to hear what you think!

  4. How lovely to be able to help with the Children's Club but not be in charge. Much like being a grandparent!

  5. We met Amish people when we were in Canada at st Jacobs market near Niagara. There is a large community living and farming there, like stepping into another world. Reminded me of the Laura Ngalls Wilder stories of life in 1880s America.
