Born to give them second birth!

Just picked this up from Jim Gordon's blog

A school choir has been banned from singing Christmas carols at a festive celebration because organisers wanted to "remove any religious content", it was claimed.
About 60 pupils from Arthur Bugler Junior School, in Stanford-le-Hope, Essex, had been due to perform at the Corringham Winter Festival, in Corringham, Essex.
But after the youngsters had finished rehearsals, organisers told them their role would not "dovetail" with the event, local Conservative councillor Danny Nicklen said.

Excuse me - but this is CHRISTmas we are celebrating here. Like it or not, it is primarily a Christian festival. Those poor children, practising and singing their hearts out. I hope some local church has given them an opportunity to perform, and valued all they have done.

Then there was this in the Times yesterday, where the Dean of Perth declared that

Salvation is experienced corporately not individually,

Salvation does not effect a once-for-all change in us

Salvation is not about who is in or who is out, sheep or goats.

Do Australian Anglicans not study the New Testament? Do they not read the book of Romans? What planet are they on? What kind of hope does this man have to offer our fallen world?

Thank the Lord for the ones out there who are faithfully preaching the gospel every week - pastors like Bob and Catriona and Julie in local churches, and those like David Coffey exercising a global ministry. And for a clear Bible-based set of principles which recognise the importance of personal salvation and religious freedom.

I had a migraine before I started this rant. I shall switch off the PC before it gets any worse- and go and lie down in a darkened room!

  2. Oh dear lol this must be my 10th attempt to post this comment! Perhaps it's me, perhaps it's Firefox (but most likely me, I'm hopeless).

Just wanted to stop by and say 'thanks' for your comment on my blog the other day. I totally agree with your thoughts on this post.

Oh, and I LOVE the sellotape dispenser in the post above. Want one!

    Blessings this Christmastide.

  3. Oh yey! I think it posted (does little dance). The word verification doesn't work in Firefox but it did in IE.

Oh dear, what a way to introduce myself.

    I am normal...really.

  4. Sarah - I share your frustrations about comment posting. I am sure I send the same comment 3 times sometimes, but my kind friends are good enough to only allow one to be published! It's all the fault of the technology- it is not us. We ARE normal [I think!]
