It is the Summer Solstice, and apparently record numbers of people descended on Stonehenge last night, so that they could witness the sunrise this morning. So what was I doing last night?
I was thinking about Hot Water Bottles!
Norfolk can get a little chilly sometimes, it's that bracing wind coming in off the North Sea. [Why do you think Swaffham is full of wind turbines, in the 'Kingdom' programme?]
I don't want guests at Cornerstones to feel the cold.
I found two remnants of fleece in the loft and made some cuddly covers - and added name tapes [so that was what I was working on at school yesterday]
Here's an easy tutorial
They are a very simple envelop style with press studs under the flap.
You just take a piece of fabric 32" x 8"
Fold it over with a 3" overlap, and cut off the triangles at the top corners.
Hem or overlock the edges of the flap.
Seam the side seams and the diagonal seams.
Turn right side out, and sew press studs to hold flap closed.
Add a name-tape if you are geeky like me!
Done and dusted and ready for the winter solstice.
Oh I love it - your own designer label - eat yer heart out Cath Kidston!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your break - we are off on a canal boat this week :)
God bless,

ReplyDeleteYour so thoughtful Ang - your guests are all going to be spoiled :)
ReplyDeleteThe template will be useful for me too... I have some cow-print fleecy material that has just been waiting for a project like that!!
