Holiday Humour

On Monday we went out for a drive - very grateful that the car has A/C, it was SOOOO hot. After a little stroll round a garden centre and a reviving cuppa we returned to the car. As Bob got back into the car there was an alarming rip. "I think we need to go straight back to Cornerstones" he said.

These are really quite old trousers, and there was already a mend on the knee. So they will be off to the ragbag. But laid out on the bed, this does look like a weird winking face, don't you think?

In Dereham on Tuesday, I was very amused by the Mattressman sign. "sleep safe, 2metres". Even in our king-sized bed that's impossible, without at least one of us falling out. One friend suggested that was the idea - both sleep on the floor, use the bed as a divider, hold hands under the duvet.

Rosie came for a sleepover on Tuesday. "Grandma, I need a bedtime snack" "I don't think you do" "But my tummy is rumbling" "I can't hear it" "Well. That's because it's rumbling in slow motion!"

  1. Ha, ha, it does look like it's a winking face.

Maybe twin beds will make a come back? In old American television shows, married couples were shown sleeping in twin beds for proper decorum. :)

Oh, Rosie is so smart! Those slow motion hunger pangs are the worst! :D

    1. I remember those TV shows too. There was a fuss in the 60s when Bewitched showed the couple in the same bed, because the actors were not married.

  2. Oh, I wouldn't put those in rag pile yet! But of course, we live in the middle of woods (literally, in the literal meaning of literally) and we have house renovations and other country house stuff going on all the time. So patched trousers are good to go, I have much much MUCH worse versions in my waiting-to-be-mended pile :-)

    1. Unfortunately the fabric around the rip is SO thin, any patch would need to be huge. The other side is close to disintegration too. Believe me, I'm really mean, and if patching were an option, I would do it!

  3. I think twin beds is an excellent idea , I might have a fair chance then of getting some of the duvet . Night befor last it was so hot in the bedroom but when I woke in the early hours hubby was wrapped in the duvet like a caterpillar in a crysalis .

    1. Haha!! Love your description! I came up once and my husband had somehow wrapped himself like a sausage roll/Swiss roll in the duvet and was right on his side of the bed at the very edge. He was fully clothed inside it with glasses on. I was outraged and highly amused all at once and photographed it to show him!
