Three Years BC

i just found some pictures of August three years ago. The Go-go trail in Norwich that summer was hares. I went with Liz and Rosie, who was just 2½ years old.
Rosie loved the hares - especially the leverets which were just the right size for her. And she coloured in her picture at the activity area inside the Forum. How fast she has grown!
And how different life was then...no masks,  no drippy sanitiser dispensers, no 'social distancing'... That was Life BC (before covid)
But we are getting there, slowly. There is light at the end of the tunnel. We just need to remind ourselves that it has been a long tunnel, and the view as we emerge will be rather different in some ways.
The Internet has been a true blessing for me - enabling me to keep in touch with friends and family when physical visits have been impossible. Zoom meetings, YouTube Church Services, WhatsApp bedtime stories and chatty emails will never equate to a proper hug, singing a hymn together, and sharing a cuppa, or snuggling on the sofa with a storybook. But these technologies can be a real help, especially if you're feeling isolated.
Just as Rosie has grown "in wisdom and stature" [to quote the Good Book] I hope we've all grown in compassion and understanding towards one another.
Have a good day, and if the school summer holidays mean that you have extra Grandparent Duties [or other family responsibilities] may you have all the energy you need, and time to relax afterwards.

  1. Rosie has grown so much! How is she handling being a big sister?

  2. We have a hare trail at the moment locally here! It's pretty cool!
Yes, I'm grateful for a lot of things and I hope we have learnt to be kind and grateful!

  3. I miss singing in church or in a choir. But there is a lot to be thankful for and this summer has been easier than last year. I just wish is wasn't all so confusing though. On the one hand we still have social distancing and masks, (today a store clerk carefully kept 6 feet from me while answering my query), on the other hand some people are really out and about travelling. We do have this highly contagious variant to be careful of, vaccinated or not.

  4. My church will reopen to in-person worship on Aug. 29th but we will also continue with an online service each week for the foreseeable future. We do not livestream but rather prepare a video each week, complete with our choir, readings, sermon and other features whenever we are able. It will be a lot of work for all of us but it seems to be what the congregation wants for now.

We are still not allowed to sing but can now do the responses and we will have half the choir (with special masks for singers) in the upper level. Masks & social distancing still required!

We are slowly planning to reintroduce some programs come October, along with our music program - musicians not singers. We are all keeping our fingers crossed that we won't have to backtrack but - it all depends on the numbers....

    1. So much thought and preparation - I hope all goes well for you. It has been lovely to be together back in our little Chapel here in Norfolk. But we're still masked and distanced
