Sorted!

It's the beginning of April - so I did my wardrobe sort. The bag of summer clothes came down from the loft, and everything from the wardrobe and the bags was put on the bed. All the hangers went into a laundry basket.

Then I did a ruthless sort of all the clothes. The large box and the bag on top were filled with garments I won't wear again. They have gone to the Charity Shop.
Ones that were too small, or I didn't actually like, or I had duplicates of. Steph gave me some black trousers, which fit me better than the ones I already had. No point in having the spares.
I really did get rid of a lot of stuff this time. And all the things which went back into the wardrobe were hung with hooks 'the wrong way round'. When I wear a garment, it is replaced with the hook the right way - so come October, I will know which garments just never got worn.
I think that I am not quite sticking to the 'rule of 5' idea [explained here]  as Steph gave me a dress and a coat as well, when we visited Manchester. and Liz passed on a dress last week. But I have definitely got rid of more than I have gained [a jacket and three dresses, as well as a two skirts and some tops]
But I like doing the summer/winter swap - I find things I had forgotten about. I actually wore sandals this week for the first time in months.
It feels good to have the wardrobe tidy and organised.
Do you sort your wardrobe on a regular basis?
I should probably sort out my shoes next, if only to avoid any more oddness. Did you see 'Beyond Paradise' last night? He was wearing ODD SHOES - I was definitely ahead of the curve there!

  1. Well done on doing the sort out ready for summer. Unfortunately I have not lost my Covid two stones so am going to limit myself to new underwear only for now. Catriona

    1. I'm struggling to shed some weight at the moment too. A couple of favourite summer dresses were a little snug when I tried them on. I've concluded that if I cannot get into them by the autumn they will have to go.

  2. Well done with sorting out your clothes. I went through my closet at the beginning of the year and hung all the hangers the "wrong" way. As items are worn and washed and returned to the closet, the hangers will go back the "right" way.

  3. I do sort out my clothes each spring/autumn although I'm a bit at sixes and sevens because being on the cruise/in Florida meant I had to get summer clothes out early and everything is all mixed up! Also I have bags of stuff from last season's sort out which I still haven't taken to Emmaus (the French charity shop version) as it's a 30 minute drive there and I don't want to make a special journey. One day!! Love FD xx

  4. I've had to do this multiple times since losing so much weight. I'm not complaining because it's a good problem to have, but none of my clothes fit me. I literally had a pair of pants fall down! lol But I don't have money to purchase a whole new wardrobe so I'm trying to just pick up a few things here or there.

    1. Can you find someone to alter your large clothes to fit? (I'd love to do it, but it's a long way to travel!)

    2. I'd love it if you'd come for a visit with or without the alterations! I could probably do it, but am not a fan of doing alterations and am not good at it. That's a good suggestion. I should see if I can find someone.

  5. I really need to follow your good example here, I have clothes and shoes that I will never wear again...........I'm sure I'd feel 'lighter' if I sent a few bags off to the charity shops.

  6. I thought of you and your odd shoes straight away when I was watching Beyond Paradise last night. 😄

I sort my wardrobe out twice a year just as you do, but I've been too soft on keeping things that I haven't worn for the past couple of sort outs. This year I'm going to be ruthless.

    1. I see there is going to be another Paradise spinoff, this time set in Oz. Not too sure about that...

  7. Thought of you when I spotted the odd shoes last night. I'm planning on having a massive wardrobe and drawer sort out as we are hoping to move and downsize from a 4 bed to hopefully a bungalow nearer to our daughter. Nervous but excited too. Have a great weekend. Xx

    1. It will be lovely to be nearer family. Start sorting for your downsize as soon as you can. Moving day will come sooner than you think

  8. It's too soon to swap out clothes but I suspect that in a few days someone will "throw the switch", as DH says, and we will have instant summer and spring will scramble to get every tree and plant in leaf! I did contemplate my wardrobe this morning and mentally discarded a pair of pants.

    1. I've mentally discarded many things, only to rediscover them later at the back of a drawer!!

  9. Well done on your clothes sorting, I have that to do still. Last June I had my first knee replacement and the second done 13 weeks ago, I have not been able to do too much exercise so think some things may be a little tight! But today my daughter and I went to a jumble sale so I have several new to me items, a couple still had tags. Our young grandchildren will be pleased when Nanny is more mobile :-)

Good idea about the hangers the opposite way when worn.

  10. I need to follow your good example and have a clear out. I don't want to keep things I don't like or don't fit me and our DIL is much taller than I an so she cannot wear anything I have evn as a costume!

Now, if I could find the energy or those 'Puppy Upper" that they used to talk about on Saturday Night Live!

    Hugs!

  12. I've sorted a few things out to go that I don't enjoy wearing. I really am funny with certain materials- but you don't know until you wear them! I've got more sorting out to do really. Really do need to do more culling though I have got rid if quite a few items. Kezzie xx

  13. This was such an insight! I love how you broke down the topic and made it so easy to understand. Keep up the great work! Varsity Jacket
