Raising My Hopes

I recently realised I was almost out of Cream Of Tartar, but noticed they had it on offer at Approved Foods, so I included a drum in my recentorder. This duly arrived – but I am a little concerned.

My original drum was from SUPERCOOK…

but the new one is made by a company rejoicing in the name of MILLSTONE…

What will changing from being a supercook to using the millstone do for the lightness of my scones, I wonder?

And tartar is such a weird word anyway – it has at least 4 definitions, and some not very pleasant ones at that!

  1. a salt [potassium bitartrate] used especially in baking powder
  2. a fiercely vigilant and unpleasant woman
  3. a member of the Mongolian people of central Asia who invaded Russia in the 13th century
  4. a hard yellowish incrustation that forms on the teeth and gums

  1. I'm sure your scones will be delicious anyway, whether Millstones or Supercooked.

  2. ROFLOL!!!! Angela, you make me laugh. I never would have thought of all that from a simple can of cream of tartar!
