I Name This Child...

Will there be any VE Day babies saddled with "Winston" or "Vera" do you think?

  2. Where did you find that - it's so funny and very possible - but I do hope not.
I heard one lady born on VE day was called Veda!

    1. A friend sent it to me. I am sure Steph and Gary have a much better name in mind.

    1. In a lifetime's teaching, I've come across many, many strange names. Some parents just don't seem to think when they choose the appellation for their children.

  4. A friend was at the local doctors surgery, when the doctor cam out and called 'la-ha' for her appointment. Annoyed a girl stood up and proclaimed. 'It's Ladasha'. Never got over that one.

  5. I am sure you will think kindly of people whatever their names Angela. God blesses all without making fun of them.

  6. Indeed He does. But I find it sad that some children are given names which are likely to mean they are teased by schoolfriends

  7. Nobody is born with innate teasing, it is picked up from adults.

  8. These are funny! I do wonder if there will be a load of Tigers and Joes.
As someone who has an unusual name, I really didn't like it when I was young but I like it now. I always wanted to be called something like Emma though I loved the name Kneessa when I was 7 as I was obsessed with Kneessa from the Ewoks cartoon! That's quite unusual.
There are some names which are really, really unfortunate though in translation for example. When I was in Secondary school, in year 10, I believe, a lovely new Asian girl joined, who didn't speak much English and her name was Fukreera which was such an awful name to have especially when coming into a new school at such an age.

My favourite names are French ones- I love Genevieve, Estelle, Virginie etc.x
