Who knew?
This event is part of a whole week of celebrations . Yes writing does matter, proper letters through the post are a treat. It is much more satisfying to cross things off a paper to-do list than to just delete a line of text on a tablet.
I have had rants about stationery before, so will endeavour to contain myself this morning. But two questions remain
- Why do the organisers of this event hold a wonderful exhibition at the London Business Centre - and then restrict it to trade only?
- Why is our local branch of Staples, that well known office supply chain, full of bins of pens/files/etc labelled "Stationary Sale" ? Surely they ought to be able to spell it correctly!
I finish with this very clever little advertisement which is entitled "Paper Has A Future"
World Stationery Day - Brilliant

I love stationery too! Did you know that Filofax was invented for the clergy? No paper free alternative is nearly as good.
ReplyDeleteI so agree. All the clergy I know have very full diaries!
DeleteVery clever! I always want to go into shops and correct their spelling, usually of 'stationary'. I remember being taught at an early age...paper with an 'er' is stationery, car with an 'ar'is stationary.!
ReplyDeleteI was taught "e" is for envelope - but I like your version just as much.
DeleteI have just recently bought a new Erin Condren planner and subsequently some accessories to go with. It is lovely. I was never a planner or calendar person but I am adapting and it is so much easier to keep things organized. I love stationery too and remember writing long letters to my then-boyfriend-now-husband when he was off to college. We still have those letters and I can't imagine what it would have been like to just have text messages or some such electronic communication. We would have nothing for our kids to laugh at! The stationery was prettier back then though, I think, but I have been looking at it more since I now have a penpal and get to write letters again!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I DID know it was StationEry week!!!
ReplyDeleteNo Staples for us, I'm afraid. I do occasionally get into one of the two little Paperchases in town and smell the glory of paper!
