This morning's service was just amazing - so many different elements came together to make it extra special. Bob was preaching on the passage about the healing of the man with leprosy in Matthew 8. The Children's Slot involved two children writing down the bad things we do - and then feeding the paper into a shredder - and the words were gone! God forgives our sins and remembers them no more!
We are not the sort of fellowship that has an appeal/altar call/whatever-you-call-it after every sermon, but Bob made one today. And the response was thrilling!
God so good. We came home for lunch on a real high!
We also sang a new song [It goes to the tune of "Lord of All Hopefulness"] I was quite taken with the words..

Great new song. Did you know that the writer grew up in Whitwick? We premièred his new baptism hymn last October! He has written lots of good stuff to well known tunes (and apparently has done since his teens)

ReplyDeleteI'll post about bunco next month after we have it. Then I can take some pictures to post. Bunco is a dice game and it's really easy. There are four at a table and there are 3-4 tables (12-16 people). The point of the game is to get 21 points to win. There are 3 dice at each table and the first round you roll for 1's. For every 1 you roll, you get a point. If your roll three 1's you get a Bunco and it's worth 21 points. We play that if you get three of any other number (2's, 6's, etc) you get a mini-Bunco worth 5 points. We play 2 rounds 1-6. We give out prizes which the hostess purchases ($5-10 per gift). There are four prizes: most Buncos, most wins, most mini's, and the booby prize for most losses.
It has been a great way to get to know women in the community that aren't from church. I've been playing for 3 years in this group and it's been so fun! Everyone takes a turn being hostess (provide prizes and drinks) a their home and everyone else brings an appetizer or a dessert.
