Wimborne Wanderings

Bob’s day off has shifted – after 35 years on a Monday, it is now Tuesday. I will get used to it eventually! This Tuesday, we went to have a look at Wimborne Minster [the town is named after the church, and that is dedicated to St Cuthburga]

It is a fascinating building, full of history [I haven’t learned much yet, planning to research it further] Henry VI’s Mum, Margaret Beaufort had a chapel built, there’s an amazing astronomical clock, and lots more besides. It was a beautifully peaceful place, the light was streaming in the stained glass windows, and a gentleman was playing sweet music on the grand piano beside the organ.

coffee saloonWe enjoyed visiting – and also can recommend the nearby “Coffee Saloon” for great coffee, good conversation, and excellent sourdough toast.

I suspect we shall be visiting Wimborne again soon on a Tuesday!

  2. Hi Angelina, looks like a lovely place to visit. I've never heard of St Cuthburga - we do have a St Cuthbert's school = are they related? Cheers from Carole's Chatter
