We watched the Radio 2 Folk Awards [on catch-up TV] at my brother's house on Monday evening. I loved this piece by The Unthanks - a reworking of a traditional folk song from Dorset.
I'll mount the air on swallows’ wings to find my dearest dearAnd if I lose my labour and cannot find him thereI quickly will become a fish to search the roaring seas
I love my love, because I know my lover he loves me
I'll comb the air and ocean deep to find my dearest dearIn all my days and empty nights I cannot find him thereI swiftly will become a deer and scour the heathered moorsI'll find my love before the water falls on these shores
I'll cast all fear unto the wind and bring me to my soulAnd if in danger he becomes and tumbles from my holdI'll break the earth on which he lands and rest his head to sleepI am my love because I know my lover, he is me
I'll mount the air on swallows wings to find my dearest dearAnd if I lose my labour and cannot find him thereI quickly will become a fish to search the roaring seasI love my love, because I know my lover he loves me
A whisper, a memory, I can feel that you are near meOh I feel that you are near me, oh I wish you to beI'm calling, I'm crying, in hope that you can hear meOh I feel that you are near me, oh I wish you to be
What a lovely song! First time I've heard it. Thank you for posting the link. I enjoyed watching and listening to it.

I do like The Unthanks. Do you know their "King of Rome" song - a lovely song, a lovely story. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fL3E8FRxiw It always makes Mr FD shed a tiny tear. I love the brass band on it.
