Rejoice!

It has been a very busy week for both of us. Bob is preaching at chapel today - and we are studying the Jewish Festival of Pesach [Passover] I'm really looking forward to that. He has chosen some cracking good hymns too, including this one [a GettyTownend collaboration]. A reminder that as Christians we are one people, whether we are going through good times or dark days, and together we can come to worship God and to rejoice in his goodness.

Come People of the Risen King,
who delight to bring him praise;
come all and tune your hearts to sing
to the Morning Star of grace.
From the shifting shadows of the earth
we will lift our eyes to him,
where steady arms of mercy reach
to gather children in.
Rejoice, rejoice! Let every tongue rejoice!
One heart, one voice; O Church of Christ, rejoice!

Come, those whose joy is morning sun,
and those weeping through the night;
come, those who tell of battles won,
and those struggling in the fight.
For his perfect love will never change,
and his mercies never cease,
but follow us through all our days
with the certain hope of peace.

Come, young and old from every land –
men and women of the faith;
come, those with full or empty hands –
find the riches of his grace.
Over all the world, his people sing –
shore to shore we hear them call
the Truth that cries through every age:
“Our God is all in all”!

  3. Good to know that you both still have opportunities to preach. I used to make a point of listening to Bob's Sunday sermon during the pandemic and enjoyed it very much. Lovely hymn!

    1. Thank you Bushlady. I'm glad you were able to tune in during lockdown! We have a 'hybrid' service nowadays - some in the chapel, and some join on Zoom

  4. I LOVE that worship song BUT I really love this Stuart Townend folky version rather than that more rocky version you included (this one is great https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNlP8Sy23XE )
    When we first sang this at my old church, Chris, our worship leader wanted to emulate this version and I transcribed the introduction and the instrumental interlude from this video and played folk fiddle for it instead of flute as Songs of Fellowship didn't have any of that in the musical notation!
    I feel so glad when I am at church and worshipping- all the things which weighed me down don't feel so heavy when I'm with others!x

    1. Yes I prefer folk version too. Couldn't find link yesterday. And grateful for the opportunity to worship with others in church after the solitary YouTube experience of lockdown
