This song has been around for 8 years now. It is ridiculously popular with small children. Bob came into the kitchen the other day, singing "Grandad Shark! Do-Doo-Do-Doo-Do-Doo"
The shark in question is my new IKEA oven mitt. He said, very graciously, that he had been quite sceptical when I bought it, but has now realised it is incredibly useful, and it fits comfortably on his large hand as well as my smaller one.
It's so flexible. I find it easier to manage for lifting small things out of the microwave, and for holding pan handles. Especially when I don't want the double-handled glove. Furthermore it is completely washable if I do get grease or gravy on it.
A couple of weeks ago, Jean mentioned her new Jarkey , which she had purchased following my blog review. I thought I should share this gadget too. I paid £3 for it, and it hangs neatly on the hook with my longer fabric glove. I suspect it may migrate outside to the BBQ if we have any good weather this month!
First time I'm hearing this song! It does have a catchy tune! Your oven mitt does look like a shark!
ReplyDeleteIt went viral in the UK. The children love it
DeleteI taught it to every class in every music lesson in every year through the summer term.... exhausting! Kept me fit singing and doing the actions for all those verses. Grandpa shark and surfing dude were always the favourite ones.
ReplyDeleteIt does get wearing after a time, though...🎶🦈🎶
DeleteThat oven mitt disguised as a shark looks great, might have to go on my wish list!

DeleteWhen DH started baking bread several years ago, I bought him a pair of heat resistant gloves that withstand temps to 1500*F and fit like gloves. They are brilliant and he loves them. Since thn, we;ve given them as gifts to family and friiends. Theere are may types, colors, and patterns on Amazon.
ReplyDeleteWhen our sons were small the song they loved was Baby Beluga!
Hugs!
Such a gift 🧤would be greatly appreciated - the right hand* of friendship (* &left hand too) 🧤
DeleteThat song has been around for EIGHT years, wow, but thinking about it my youngest grandson is 14 and he used to drive us mad singing it and doing the actions, (when he wasn't 'Flossing') so I can see that's right. Where does the time go?
ReplyDeleteI'd forgotten about Flossing. What an awful craze THAT was !
DeleteWe hear this song a lot when our littlest grands are here. Our 2 year old always wants to hear "do do do". The other day, I found one of his socks and "baby sock, do do do do do do" popped into my head!
ReplyDeleteLove it 🧦🧦🧦!!
DeleteI learnt this at an LSO music inset and then it became popular about 4 years after. I did a mashup recorder version of this with another very well-known animal-based tune and everyone went nuts over it! The glove looks super useful.
ReplyDeleteThe glove is very useful
DeleteI think the shark glove is rather amusing and it is good that it works for all situations handling hot items. I had a Jar Key given to me over 10 years ago and I wouldn't be without it!
