He Died That We Might Live

is 53 paige from our book

Thank you so much to Heidi [here] for allowing me to reproduce her interpretation of Isaiah 53.

Because the sinless Saviour died,

my sinful soul is counted free

And God the just is satisfied,

to look on Him and pardon me.

  1. Tell me, ye who hear Him groaning,
    was there ever grief like His?
    Friends through fear His cause disowning,
    foes insulting His distress.
    Many hands were raised to wound Him,
    none would interpose to save;
    But the deepest stroke that pierced Him
    was the stroke that justice gave.

    Isn't this the best time of year? So sad and so joyful all at once - with a guaranteed happy ending.

    A blessed Easter to you and yours.

    1. I listened to this song too on Ann Voskamp's blog this morning.

    2. We sang it at church yesterday. One of my all-time favourite hymns (but that's a pretty long list).
