Starry, Starry Night

After a delicious meal, and great conversation at the home of our friends Bob and Freda, we walked home through the village, marvelling at the lovely evening.

Then we took mugs of tea outside and sat in the garden to watch the annual Perseids meteor shower. It was mind-blowingly beautiful. I know they are not shooting stars, they are just bits of space debris burning up –but I think this event each August is fabulous to watch. Here’s the BBC picture!

I thought about those verses in Job chapter 9

He is the Maker of the Bear and Orion, the Pleiades and the constellations of the south. He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted.

I do hope that despite all his troubles, Job got the opportunity to watch the Perseids!

It was a glorious ending to a lovely day.
