Back in 1997, we took the girls on holiday to Scotland, and stayed in St Andrews,in the region known as the "East Neuk of Fife". A friend said "while you are there do visit Crail, and buy yourself a little treat in the pottery" So we did - and found it to be a delightful little fishing village, with a wonderful pottery - now 55 years old. I purchased a lovely round bowl.
It is beautifully tactile, with a wonderful swirling pattern on the inside. I love to hold it and remember the waves on the sea, the harbour, the cottages, and the winding streets...very happy holiday memories.
So you can imagine my delight last week to find this jigsaw reduced in a CS. The pottery is just a short walk up the street from the harbour. This will go into my 'Cornerstones' box, and next time I'm relaxing in Norfolk, it will be my special treat.

That bowl looks like cream stirred into tomato soup! It looks beautifully made and tactile. I'm glad you found the jigsaw!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful description - it IS lovely to hold, and holds just the right amount of soup for me!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful bowl and how lovely that you found a jigsaw puzzle of the very place you visited! I'm sure you'll have fun doing that puzzle!
ReplyDeleteI am sure I will!
DeleteYou'll never believe it, two coincidences. I have a 'potter' friend who posted on FB today, saying that these days, nobody really wants homemade pottery but everybody 'needs' to have a little of it in their life so your post today is totally in sync with that philosophy. Then I went to the Post Office to post a parcel and guess what? There, on a shelf amongst the calendars, the exact same jigsaw as yours!!Only it was £13.99. I'll wait until his calendars and jigsaws are half-price!Crail is indeed beautiful, as indeed most of the little villages over that side of the water (if you look directly across the water (the Firth of Forth) from there, you will see the coastline where I live!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely that you are just across the water! If you'd like the jigsaw, I will post it to you once I have completed it [otherwise it would just go back to the CS - I'd rather send it to someone who is specifically looking for it!]
DeleteOoh I'd love it but you must let me pay you for the postage, Angela. It's so expensive these days.
DeleteI am not sure when I will get to complete the puzzle. I'll get back to you when it is completed!
