One Target I DID Hit!

In fact, I have managed it a day or two early! My Twenty Nine For February Declutter sheet has been on my clipboard, and I have been crossing off as I have decluttered.

  • My electric pencil sharpener [bought in 2000] finally gave up the ghost, so that went in the ‘anything that is broken’ box.
  • A Tesco Banoffee Pie Mix was ‘seriously out-dated food’. I had two of these and made up the first one in December. It tasted horrendous – so I decided there was no point in keeping the other one in the cupboard.
  • My hated kitchen gadget was a very blunt potato peeler [I always use my Good Grips one]
  • The ‘appliance you never use’ was a sandwich toaster [with additional waffle maker and Panini maker plates] That has gone to Hayley our Youth Worker to equip her new flat.

thomspon localThe one I struggled with was ‘Old Phone Directories” as I am quite disciplined about recycling them as soon as our new one arrives- but a new ‘Thomson Local’ came on Saturday so the old one went, and I could cross off another section on my chart. This was a very satisfying exercise.

I haven’t yet mentioned my other activity for the past week- I have taken up the suggestion of Frances[Left Handed Housewife] of sending a note or card to somebody every day during Lent. I had a couple of overdue ‘thankyou notes’ which I did, and some birthday cards as well – but I have found a few leftover Christmas stamps and put them onto postcards, so it is easy to grab one each day and fire off a message to a friend.

Did you do the 29 items challenge? has it worked?

Are you doing anything special for Lent?

  1. I love the idea of pre-stamping postcards so they are ready to send. I always have great resolutions about sending post to people but so often somehow don't.

  2. I have to admit that I like to keep an old telephone directory for glueing things when crafting. Can always use a fresh sheet to keep my table clean as there are so many of them. The print doesn't come off the way it does with newspaper.

    1. I'd never thought of that. Neat idea! {mind you, our Thomson local is a small format now. The BT directory would be better for crafting.

  3. Hi Ang, I am a very seriously (read weirdly) uncluttered type but I printed your list out yesterday to work on over the next few days. I said I was weirdly uncluttered - so I have little clutter but I have found some stuff to get rid of - 2 tupperware lids and one lidless box, a dozen old magazines, and today I shall go through the medicine drawer - but all the other boxes were already done - I declutter as I go - I told you I'm weird!! Thrifty Mrs has started a weekly house chores list so I started that too. During Lent I would like to finish off clearing out our garage and greenhouse am half way - they're decluttered just need tidying up a bit now - then the house will be totallly de-cluttered so that I can then spend warmer days tidying the garden. Does house maintenance ever ever stop? LOL

  5. Sounds like a great idea! And glad you got rid of the potato peeler; mine are always getting rusty and dull but they seem to wind up in the junk drawer anyway...

Gonna look at that list now.

    1. Oh yes! but sometimes I put 'eat lunch' on my list just to guarantee at least one thing crossed off!

  8. I don't know how I missed the original post but I'm looking at it now and loving the fact that I can state fairly confidently that I don't have most of that lying around at all. Maybe my house isn't as bad a sI think ha ha!! Thanks for this fabulous lift on a day of parental interviews, long English comprehension, and miles to go before I sleep!!
