An Historic Day

Today, our Queen has died. She was a woman who had a deep sense of calling and duty. A woman of faith and service.
As I type this, [6:50pm Thursday] the BBC is showing a picture of the flag at Windsor Castle flying at half mast - and a rainbow is shining across the sky. I suspect she would be pleased at that - a symbol of hope for the future.
Tonight my thoughts are with all those for whom she represented a dearly loved family member and personal friend. And especially with our new King. God bless and guide him right now.
Elizabeth II - may she rest in peace.

  6. I followed the news (BBC and The Guardian) all morning here in the US and I cried when her death was announced. Having grown up in the UK in the 1950s to 1960s, the Queen was an ever present figure in my life. She exemplified dedication and faithfulness to God and country. As you said, may she rest in peace.

  7. I heard the news on the car radio. I had just been in church praying for her healing, or a peaceful passing, which she did have. How strange it seems that she has died. It seemed she would be around forever. God save King Charles III.

  8. She was around the same age as my parents, her older children the same age as me. She seems to have been in my life for always and she will be greatly missed. Whatever the changes going on in the world you could always rely on the dignity and compassion of our Queen.
