...last week on the roundabout in the middle of our big out-of-town shopping centre. She always arrives around the beginning of November.
It occurs to me that she usually arrives just as the poppy-sellers turn up, urging us to Remember.
I remembered again that verse of the old Christmas Carol
Still through the cloven skies they come
With peaceful wings unfurled
And still their heavenly music floats
O'er all the weary world.
And man at war with man hears not
The love song which they bring.
Oh hush the noise, ye men of strife
And hear the angels sing!
