Brian’s Birthday Bash

Off to the Village Hall tonight for an 80th birthday party for our great friend Brian – a member of our church for a number of years, but someone who has been a friend for much longer than that.

Here he is, greeting friends at the door. His talented family provided all the music for a great Barn Dance, and we enjoyed all the old favourites- Cumberland Square Eight, Circassian Circle etc.

It was lovely to see all ages having fun together, and meet his friends and family. Brian’s a retired Pastor, so we knew lots of the guests already – but it was super to meet new people as well. His wife Hilary was the Mastermind behind the evening’s events.

Hilary is here, in the middle of the picture, during one of the dances.

Bob wore his new jeans – and I wore the dress I had for Kate’s wedding last year. Except I didn’t put it on till the last minute, and then discovered that the recent weight loss meant I needed quite a few safety pins here and there!

The food was utterly splendid, and a good meal was had by all. We enjoyed the presentation of pictures of Brian’s life – from the cute baby of the 1930’s to the present day.

And despite the heavy downpours earlier, by the time the party started, there were clear blue skies and it was a lovely summer evening. Many Happy Returns Brian – thanks for a good party!

  2. I love old fashioned barn dances. I learned to Polka at one, but have not Polka'd since!
