This morning Christine and I went off to Dibley, where I was preaching. They gave us a really warm welcome – and because their service is earlier than the one at KMFC, we got back in time for the last hymn here! Bob has hung the Holiday Bible Club banner up…
This is painted on the back of a previous year’s Panto banner. Bob printed the letters, I cut out the stencils, then he spray-painted it.
I was really encouraged by the number of bags and jars of bottle tops which had been removed for drilling – and someone else had taken some cutting-out to prepare for one of the Club crafts.
Over two dozen people stopped for the special Holiday Club prayer meeting after coffee. That’s despite the Golf and the Grand Prix being on TV – I appreciate their commitment.
We have a great team here, and I am grateful for the way so many people get involved in HBC each year. It’s so good to work together.
Sounds like you had a great turnout! Good job on the sign--it looks like it was done by a professional!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good time in Dibley. Looking forward to reading about yout holiday club and seeing the piccies.
ReplyDeleteSo there really is a Dibley!
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to preach this morning. ~Liz
Wait a minute! *You're* the Vicar of Dibley? Fantastic! Is it really a little village nestled in fields of green?
ReplyDeleteOh, how we love your show!

Dear LB and LHH - 'Dibley' is the name which Catriona used on her blog when she really WAS 'vicar of Dibley' in order to maintain some anonymity. I am simply following her custom. The village has another [much more interesting] name in reality.
ReplyDeleteBut the folk there are friendly - and not quite as whacky as the ones on the YV progamme.
I have never been so disappointed in my life.
